Long-Term Care Laundry Aide

Overview: As a Long-Term Care Laundry Aide, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and staff in a long-term care facility. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the proper laundering of linens, clothing, and other items, contributing to the overall well-being and comfort of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Laundry Operations:

    • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, clothing, and other laundry items according to established procedures and guidelines.
    • Operate laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and ironing machines, ensuring they are used efficiently and safely.
  2. Quality Control:

    • Inspect linens and clothing for stains, damage, or wear, and follow appropriate procedures for repair or replacement.
    • Ensure that all laundry meets quality standards and infection control guidelines.
  3. Inventory Management:

    • Maintain an organized inventory of clean linens and clothing.
    • Monitor and report shortages or excesses of linen supplies and assist in ordering replacements as needed.
  4. Safety and Infection Control:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures in handling, washing, and distributing laundry.
    • Follow established procedures for handling soiled linens to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
  5. Adherence to Policies and Regulations:

    • Follow facility policies and procedures related to laundry operations.
    • Stay informed about and comply with relevant health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
  • Knowledge of laundry equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify and address issues with laundry items.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move laundry items.
